About Us
Dutch Dreamhorses; Importer of Dressage Horses and Rehab Facility
Dutch Dreamhorses Inc. was initially started by Nicky Oostveen in the beginning of 2008 for the import of European dressage horses to the US for sale. At the time it was run out of Salt Lake City, Utah, but by the summer of 2008 we had moved to a brand new equestrian facility on the central coast of California between Monterey and San Jose.
Nicky is British and as well as having lived in England, France and Germany, she also spent many years in The Netherlands. She started riding as a child, initially cross country in her native England and later show jumping and dressage in Germany and Holland. She often clinics with German GP rider Marcel Wolf when back in Europe, and in the US has ridden with Pam Nelson, Sandy Howard, Juan Matute and Shannon Peters. At our own facility we have hosted clinics with GP rider and trainer Jaime Amian and Dutch Equine Consultant, Pierre Bens.
After moving to the US, it became apparent how popular the Dutch Warmblood and Hannoverian horse is for the sport and how difficult, expensive and time consuming it is to find the right one from so far away, especially if you don’t have the contacts or speak the language. We ourselves have a network of breeders and trainers in Europe who help us find the type of horses we are looking for. Often we import a selection ourselves to our own facility here in California for further training which makes it a lot quicker and easier for prospective clients to come and visit us and try them out.
Because our facility boasts state of the art equipment for horse fitness and health, including a Belebro horse exerciser, a fully built-in Vitafloor vibrating floor system and a Q-line Solarium we have begun accepting horses here for rehab and conditioning. Our facility is small and private, giving the necessary peace and tranquility needed for a speedy and successful recovery, has large, light and airy stalls, and feeds top quality hay and grain. We have a dedicated and experienced staff, and Nicky herself keeps a keen eye on the progression and rehabilitation. With our exerciser we can also tailor make programs with walk and even trot when applicable, and we have had very good success rates with a number of injuries and other issues, especially soft tissue problems, where we have cut down rehab times considerably.
