Dutch Dreamhorses Inc. was started by Nicky and Holm Oostveen in the beginning of 2008. Initially the business was run out of Salt Lake City, Utah, but in the summer of 2008, it moved to a brand new equestrian facility on the central coast in California.
Nicky is British and as well as having lived in England and France, she has spent more then 20 years living in The Netherlands and Germany. She has owned horses for all of her adult life, the last 3 of which she bought in The Netherlands, so she knows the problems in trying to find the perfect “dreamhorse”.
Holm is a native Dutchman and has been a recreational rider for most of his adult life. He has lived in the US, Germany and The Netherlands and has traveled and worked throughout the world.
Both moved to the US in the beginning of 2006 and after bringing Nicky’s own horse with them, they soon realized the difficulties many clients have in trying to find and import a horse from Europe, especially when you don’t speak the language or understand the business practices. European Warmbloods are very popular for dressage, and breeds such as the Dutch Warmblood and the Hanoverian Horse rate very highly in the sport.
As well as with our network in Europe, we are working with selected trainers in various parts of the US, who will be assisting us with the continued riding, training and showing of our horses once we have brought them to the US.
